Mit der Single «Melody from a Dream» wagt Skiba Shapiro einen frischen Start. Vor kurzem war sie noch als Teil des Gitarren-Schlagzeug-Duos Hopes & Venom unterwegs; nun wandelt sie auf Solo-Pfaden und untermalt ihre Songs mit organisch klingenden Beats aus knarzendem Holz, Magengluckern, und anderen kuriosen Geräuschen. Es knackt, kratzt, schabt, klopft und knurrt in Shapiros neuem Stück, das auf einer Melodie basiert, von der sie geträumt hat. Hinzu kommen rhythmisierende Gitarren-Echos, Synthie-Arpeggios wie Morgentau und ihre charakteristische, klare Stimme, die über allem schwebt.
Am 27. April präsentiert sie mit dem Tanzduo «FII» (Mina Freuler & Elina Kim) zusammen das Video zur Single im Bahnhof Bruggen, inklusive einem kleinen Konzert. Wie auch ihre Live-Shows, ist das Video eine Kollaboration der drei Frauen. Shapiro ist verantwortlich für Regie und Schnitt und «FII» verzaubern mit ihrer Choreographie, die ein Mix aus Vogueing und modernem Ballett ist. So entführen die drei in einen dunklen, surrealen Traum, aus dem man so schnell nicht wieder aufwachen will.
